All winter long I've been waiting for summer and I'm so happy it's finally here. It's really not officially summer until you hear the song "Summertime" by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. I've already started planning my vacation—I'm just not sure when I'm going to be able to take one. With all the talk about the economy and the election, wanted to lighten it up a bit. I'm ready to put away all the heavy coats, clothes, boots and anything else that screams it's cold outside. I'm ready for cookouts galore (my favorite is getting a burnt hot dog off the grill and adding a little mustard). I kinda miss being in school and anticipating the last day and I really miss having three months off straight and then as August comes rolling around being ready to go back to school because I'm bored out of my mind. LOL! I think this summer I'm going to do some traveling. Most of my friends are talking about seeing the world, but I'm thinking about seeing the "Good Ol' US of A.” There are some many historical and beautiful places right here that I have yet to experience. Look for me in a city near you!

Then, of course, there's the summer lovin'!!! "Sex on the Beach," anyone? LOL! We all have that certain someone we think of during the summertime and of course there is usually a summer jam that goes along with that person. That's why I keep this song on my playlist. I have some summer loves I'd like to forget, but I'll save that for another blog. I can tell you about my first summer love. I was 10 years old and lived in Philly. Crazy thing is I actually met him at the corner store (what city doesn't have a corner store? LOL). We would meet there everyday to get a lemon Italian ice. It didn't last long. The next week me and my fam moved back to the DC area and I haven't seen him since. Rasheed, if you're out there, holla at your girl!!!!

What's your favorite summer memory from back in the day? I'm really on this interactive blog kick. I love to read what's on people's minds (JK, we may have to talk about some things LOL).

Have a great summer everyone!

"Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world."
