New Mexico Bowl

New Mexico vs. San Jose State

December 23, 4:30PM, Alburquerque

ESPN

Supposedly, this bowl was established for a New Mexico team that's gone 6-5 a few times and had not been invited to go bowling. Thankfully for pigskin lovers in the Land of Enchantment, this year's 6-6 squad will see some postseason action. Star defensive back Dwight Lowery will likely see the NFL one day soon. He's that good. The best thing about a Lobos offense that scored 10 points or less three times in '06 is running back Rodney Ferguson. San Jose's faced a couple of good offenses this year (Fresno State, Hawaii, Boise State) and, relatively speaking, held up decently against them. But if quarterback Adam Tafralis can keep it going consistently, they won't need much defense. Roll with the Spartans in a mild upset, 24-17.

Interesting Fact: The new toast of Philly, Eagles QB Jeff Garcia, is a proud San Jose State alum.
