Did this year fly by or what? We are already into the holiday season and I feel like it's still summer. I'm still in denial about the cold, but these 20 degree days are moving me closer to reality. I was in the grocery store (yes, I visit that place now and then lol) and I overheard some ladies talking about what they were cooking for Thanksgiving and hoping not to feel guilty. Feel guilty? For what? I don't quite understand how anyone can feel guilty for sitting down, eating a large meal with family and friends on one day, when quite a few us out there know it doesn't have to be Thanksgiving to get your "eat on". In all, it seems everyone is missing the point of the day. It's not about the food, it's about the people who are around you. I have some friends who don't celebrate Thanksgiving because of the history behind it. When you think about it just about every holiday that's celebrated in the U.S. has some type of "history" behind it and for the most part it's not all positive. I look at Thanksgiving based on what the day was supposed to be, a day of giving thanks and showing gratitude. For me, that's everyday. Don't get me wrong I enjoy eating (lol) however, the meal doesn't last, but the love you share with your family and friends will. If you start to feel like a glutton, here's an idea, move away from the table lol. Don't let food be the main focus of the day. Take the day to reflect on what you have to be thankful for whether it be a loved one, a job, having a home, etc. I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! God Bless!
