When it comes to his sartorial influences, Vince Young says the women in his life have made the greatest impact. "I was raised by five ladies,” says the 2006 NFL Rookie of the Year. "Growing up, I'd be worrying about who's in the mirror taking all day to get their clothes on. Now, I've picked up that habit.” Not ashamed to admit he takes a few extra minutes to get dressed, he also concedes to changing outfits several times before leaving the house. "I just like to look good,” he says.
For Young, who kept a marginal team in the playoff picture, that means keeping it conservative but not overly preppy: nice shoes, an impeccably tailored suit, a linen short set, or dress slacks and a crisp button-up. "What I wear depends on what the function is,” he says. His accessories are also understated—a Cartier watch, simple cross pendant and respectably moderate diamond studs. But whatever Young sports, he's looking to make a lasting impression. "I always look at it from a marketing standpoint,”
he says. "When you see me being interviewed, you can see that I speak well and dress nicely. When it comes to having business meetings, I come in the same way. That's my image.” And for that, he has Mom to thank.
