You might best know the lovely Dawn Richard from when she debuted in the entertainment industry in 2004 after auditioning for Making the Band 3, which eventually led to her joining the girl group, Danity Kane. This beauty is of Creole and Haitian descent, having grown up in New Orleans, Louisiana. We'd trade all the po' boys and beignets in the world to have a shot with this amazingly talented woman.

It would seem as if she was born to step into the entertainment industry, given the fact that her father is Frank Richard, who was a lead singer and percussionist for a funk/soul band called Chocolate Milk, and her mother ran a dance school, which gave Dawn a leg up when it came to performing. It comes to no surprise then that Dawn started performing in her teens as part of a group called Realiti, which would eventually be the stepping stone to her joining Danity Kane and landing a contract with Bad Boy Records.

She went on to start her solo career after Danity Kane disbanded in 2011. She's released two album so far to critical acclaim, first Goldenheart in 2013 and then Blackheart in 2015.
