Yesterday, to my dismay, I heard about Drank.

If you don't know by now, this is the new "anti-energy drink,” that is being backed by HoustonSoReal. Apparently, with it's combo of roots and Melatonin, it's supposed to make you "slow your roll.” It's slated to be worldwide by the end of the year.

I know…I didn't believe it either. Then I went to the website.

That's when my delight turned to disgust. You see, if you didn't follow the link above, the song that streams when you enter Drank's undeveloped homepage is Three Six's "Sippin' On Some Sizzurp,” which features UGK. The same duo that recently lost founding member, Pimp C, due to his syrup habit. Now, less than three months after his passing, Drank is using his legacy to promote a new knock-off of the product that killed him.

I know, it's not exactly a heroin patch, or white powder Pixie Stix, but it's basically the same thing. It's a legal dope biz. Regardless of the consequences (in this case, further promoting the unhealthy syrup craze), the manufacturer exploits the naïve people hooked on the trend and then mass-markets it to the world. While pretty damn ingenious, it's also in terrible taste.

Just because Drank's version is all-natural, doesn't mean it won't cause thousands more people to start pourin' the real thing up in their Styrofoam cups.

If the tobacco companies released a product called ‘Dro,' that was non-THC tobacco with a taste of green, teens would buy it once, get bored and then holla at their older brothers for the real thing. No matter what anyone says, that shit's an E! Hollywood true story. To make it worse, with Drank, the unsafe equivalent can usually be bought at the same store.

People are telling Weezy to slow his roll on that syrup shit for a reason. It kills people. If Drank wants to take advantage of rappers like him abusing it, that's their own bad karma. For everyone else, who backs it, really wants to try it, or is amused and buys it for the novelty, open your eyes and realize what you're supporting.
