There are so many great words that begin with V like, Vacation, Velvet, Vivacious, Venus, Victory, Volunteer, Voyage, Violets, Velocity, VOTE (the word of 2008), Vivrant (much love to Q-Tip),Viagra (Ha!) then there are some bad V words like, Victim, Venereal Disease, Venom, Voodoo, Violated, Vomit, I could get a dictionary and go on and on, but quite a few people would love to add Valentine to the bad list.

So much emphasis is put on this day and trust in the great U.S.A. Valentine = $$$$$. From talking to quite a few people, they feel pressured to do something for their special someone. Let me tell you (I'm not giving advice, just suggesting, I don't want anyone coming after me if they don't get a gift), don't feel burdened to give someone something for Valentine's Day and don't feel like it's the end of the world if you don't have anyone. It's literally just another day. Like my good friend Mandy said to me, we focus so much on finding a "sweetheart”, that we forget about the OS (the original sweeties), who have been there since day one.  An OS can be your mother, your father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, etc. There are always opportunities to show them love, everyday of the year. I know for me personally  (I love spontaneity), if someone sent me something or said some kind words on Feb 13 or Feb 15, I would be just as happy.

So for my single people who may look up at the sky and say "Star light, star bright where the heck is Mr/Miss Right," don't fret. If you feel the need, on V-Day, go out and treat yourself, nothing like self-gratification (don't runaway with that lol).

For those of you who do have a special person in your lives, try doing something for them the day or even week after (again, I'm not saying don't do anything on Valentine's Day) and see the type of reaction you get. I'm pretty sure it will be even more appreciated.

That being said let me end with this poem that I want to dedicate to my special someone.  Happy V-Day Everyone!

Year Round Valentine
By Joanna Fuch
I love you all through February,
Not just on Valentine's Day;
I cherish you when flowers of spring
Appear in the midst of May.
I adore you in the summer,
When the air is filled with heat;
Without you in my life each day,
I wouldn't be complete.
I treasure you in fall,
When leaves are turning gold;
I loved you when you were younger;
I'll love you when you're old.
I prize you in the winter,
When colder days are here;
I love you, love you all the time,
Every minute of the year.
So I'll give to you this Valentine,
But I want to let you know,
It's not just today, but always,
That I will love you so.
